Stuart Ruffin is a co-creator of NC4ME and has served as its Director of Operations since 2014. In this role, Ruffin works closely with the Executive Director and Steering Committee to set the organization’s strategic vision and implement its unique model for empowering employers to hire qualified military talent.
Ruffin has built and led several organizations in North Carolina’s defense space. He worked for the NC Military Foundation from 2012 until 2019, serving as its Executive Director for his final two years. There Ruffin worked on the strategic level with North Carolina’s most senior government, industry, and academic leaders to design and implement strategies for growing the state’s defense economy. In 2019, Ruffin led the Foundation’s merger with another key organization in NC’s defense space, creating the Defense Alliance of North Carolina. He served as the Alliance’s Interim Executive Director during its early days before his planned move to South Carolina.
Ruffin started the NC Veterans Foundation, which houses NC4ME, in 2013 and currently serves as its Executive Director.
Ruffin received his B.A. in political science, including minors in economics and Middle Eastern studies from North Carolina State University. He spent the summer of 2010 studying abroad in Egypt, where he honed his Arabic language skills and completed coursework in Modern Egyptian History. In 2013, he earned a Masters in International Studies from NC State University.
Ruffin resides with his wife in Spartanburg, SC. In his spare time, he supports several charitable initiatives that he is passionate about, including serving as a board member of the Joedance Film Festival supporting pediatric cancer research.
